Human Resources
RetentionOne of the key strategies of workforce planning is determining how to retain productive workers. Workforce planning is not just hiring and turnover, although those are critical pieces of human resource management. Workforce planning also considers the current workforce and the human resource management strategies needed to assess the performance of, develop and reward that workforce. One way to determine how best to retain staff is to analyze why others have left. The first four resources listed below address those factors. Pay is another effective means of retaining highly productive employees. The next two entries relate to that strategy. The degree to which workers are effectively engaged in their jobs also affects retention. Performance and Development Solutions (PDS) offers several approaches and tools for examining employee engagement. The PDS website is listed here as a starting point for agencies interested in these resources. Departure Survey report for FY 2006, DAS-HRE, updated annually |
