A provider transfer refers to the movement of some or all of your RIC dollars from one investment provider to another provider in the plan. Most participants have assets with an active provider only and have no restrictions or fees to consider for transfers with the exception of Nationwide's fixed rate account (5-year restriction for transfers to other investments or providers while employed by the state of Iowa). Transfers between active providers are not recommended unless you have been dissatisfied with your current active provider services or investments over a reasonable amount of time.
Some participants still have assets invested with an inactive provider and need to be aware that restrictions and/or fees may exist..
