STATISTICAL RESEARCH ANALYST 3

DEFINITION

Performs advanced professional level or lead work in collecting, compiling, analyzing and reporting statistical data; performs related work as is required.

WORK EXAMPLES

Assists a supervisor by performing, in accordance with set procedures, policies, and standards, such duties as instructing employees about tasks, answering questions about procedures and policies, distributing and balancing the workload and checking work; may make occasional suggestions on appointments, promotions, and reassignments.

Designs, evaluates and implements new and revised statistical reports; designs forms, specifies where the information is to come from; prepares documentation; writes data processing specifications.

Monitors data collection; determines appropriate techniques; performs analysis of data; prepares reports; recommends new policies, procedures and standards for workflow and processes.

Designs data collection systems; works with agency personnel to assure that the needs of the group are met and that the necessary data items are included for reporting purposes.

Uses advanced statistical methods to analyze complex data sets; designs statistical experiments to determine if certain known conditions have an effect on a desired outcome.

Analyzes the data of proposed programs and legislative changes in terms of cost, people served, staff needed, etc.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelorís Degree in Statistics, Mathematics or Economics and four years experience in statistical analysis or economic research work;

OR

an equivalent combination of experience and education substituting one year of the required experience for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education to a maximum substitution of four years;

OR

eight years of experience involving responsible technical statistical analysis or economic research work;

OR

graduation from an accredited college or university with a Masterís Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics and two years of the above experience;

OR

employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months as a Statistical Research Analyst 2 shall be considered as qualified.
