Workflow Analysis

The PDS Workflow Analysis Workshop takes its roots from best methods and strategies in Total Quality Management (TQM) and business process re-engineering. The workshops provide a basis for innovation efforts aimed at streamlining business processes and improving administrative efficiency, while countering bureaucratic tendencies toward continually adding more systems, policies, and layers of complexity. The analysis uses a team approach to accomplish organizational changes. Change occurs by following sequential steps that focus on changing procedures, empowering employees, placing organizational goals first, and achieving long-term commitment

This two-day facilitated program takes a team through a nine-step methodology to analyze the group's essential processes looking for new ideas to increase functionality, efficiency, and quality.

  1. Organizational analysis
  2. Process examination
  3. Team assemblage
  4. Process mapping
  5. Defining areas for improvement
  6. Brainstorming solutions
  7. Evaluation and action planning of solutions
  8. Implementation planning
  9. Follow-up assignments

Teams will explore the nine-steps and apply the methodology to existing work processes. They gain a greater understanding of the communication dynamics in the team and walk away with actionable plans and the individual commitment to operate in a more efficient, successful manner.

If you are interested in a workshop that will generate new successes and increased efficiency in your team, please contact Brian Mayer at (515) 281-6338 or brian.mayer@iowa.gov.

“The work you did here has been very fruitful. We have several working groups and have used that process to identify both staff and client issues and solutions. I believe that morale is very high because people know that their input and involvement is crucial to the Division's work.”
-- Marti Anderson, Director, Crime Victim Assistance Division
